Work from home is a work at home…

So, I’ve been in the freelance industry for I think 3 years now, and I can say that it’s still the most rewarding job ever… To start of with the benefits, no traffic jams, you will never get late, no annoying bosses in front of you, no office politics, and the best part is you’re with your family 24/7! What can be more amazing than that? Well, if you are into socialization, meeting new friends, clubbing after work, etc., this may not be the best option, but for an introvert potato like me this is HEAVEN!!!

Well, In the past, I am quite skeptical to be a virtual assistant, since I have to consider a lot of things like benefits, regular pay, promotion, and retirement. Yes, retirement! you have to have long-term goals right? But then, it seems like destiny found its way to this, and everything fell into place. Gradually, I learned to do things how to be of good use to my clients virtually.

And, it just keeps getting better. A lot better when I was in my regular job before. Not to mention the fact that I can be just myself everyday, doing work in pajamas, shorts or what not, who cares? However, in every job, apart from knowledge you have to be very equipped as those are your weapons lol! A lot of my friends are asking me how to start working from home so here are my pieces of cents and I tell you, this is 100% based on experience.

1. Computer/Laptop

You can’t work from home if you don’t have this, and should have a good specs.

2. Internet

Good computer and good internet connection works hand and hand. You still can’t work if you’re just loading everytime. So, if you are serious about the business, you better start investing on it. The speed actually depends on the platform that you’ll be signing up with, but mostly requires 2mbps download speed at least. With our country’s internet situation this is more of a challenge, (I wish I can tear data capping into pieces and step on it until it’s unrecognizable beyond compare!!! Geez!) Anyway, I  personally recommend PLDT fibr and SKY broadband, so whatever is available in your area, better choose between the two.

3. Back-ups

A back up computer, a back up internet connection, and a back -up power supply. It is very important to have these, especially if you are an appointment setter, customer servive support or basically you mostly engage in phone calls. The back up computer should have the same specs of your main or at least nearing that, and that goes the same with the internet connection. If it comes to worst, you have to go to the nearest internet shop or relative/friend’s house just for you to continue working. For the power supply, that includes an extra laptop battery, generator, or even solar panels. If you are serious about it being your bread and butter, the key is to invest on your equipments.

4. Quiet room/office

Not necessarily big, but at least a place in your house that is peaceful and quiet, especially if you are into blogging, telemarketing, or jobs that require calls. Better not put a tv in it so as to increase your productivity, but A/C is a must!!!

5. Knowledge/Research

Knowledge IS definitely a power! So you should always feed your mind! It is good to ask for opinion, and experience of course, but it’s only you who knows what’s your strong points are, where you’re good at, and your interests, and that plays a major role in this kind of business. So make sure to watch lots of videos, read blogs, attend seminars, join groups and a lot of research to hone your craft.

Well, those are the most important I think, nothing complicated right? Oh! I forgot, aside from the things I mentioned, you better prepare yourself for lots of kisses and cuddles too before you lock your door up 😘

Hand Painted Shoes

It’s a rainy Saturday afternoon, no work for today and I’m too lazy to do anything. The weather is setting a quite melancholic mood for some reason, I don’t have SAD though don’t get me wrong (“,) Maybe I’ll just grab a cup of noodles, sit by the window and stare at the small raindrops on the window glass while listening to Rain. But oh well, need to be more productive than that.

Last week, I made a little project for myself and that is customizing my white shoes. So I guess I’ll just share how to do it.

The steps are super easy (wink)

  1. First, you have to think of any design, floral, your favorite character, prints or whatever.
  2. Then, gather necessary materials

Acrylic or Textile Paint

You should have at least 6 colors: White, Black, Brown, Red, Yellow and Blue then you can just mix them to create new colors or for the shadow and light effect.

Paint Brush

Basically, you just need 3 sets of brushes #2 for fine sections, #4 and #6.

Pencil

To draw the outline.

Permanent Fine Markers

Preferably black. I’m using 0.8 or 1.0 tips.

Paint Palette

For mixing of paint. But actually small containers or plate is fine.

Tape

To cover the rubber part of the shoes during painting

Last but not the least, Fabric Shoes

3.  Once set, draw your outline. Be careful since it’s hard to erase the lead on fabric, and the shoes will look dirty. So draw the outline very lightly. Once you’re sure and satisfied with the design, use the fine marker for finishing touches

4. Next, start painting! paint your design with the base color first then you can add the shade and the light effects afterward. You can also use tape to cover the rubber part of the shoe.

5. It will not take long for the paint to dry, you can add glitters, beads, or other stuff to your liking

And voila, you got a new pair of shoes!!! What’s good with it is that you can squeeze out your talent in customizing things and it is also a good bonding activity together with your friends and family especially during weekends. (“,)
